And a Happy New Year by Sebastian Mulder
The IDFA Award for Best Dutch Film went to Aliona van der Horst and Luuk Bouwman for Gerlach. The film is produced by Docmakers. Gerlach is a humorous and loving portrait of an old-school crop farmer who cheerfully weathers life's headwinds.
A special mention was awarded to Mother Suriname – Mama Sranan in the category for Best Dutch Film.
The film is directed by Tessa Leuwsha and produced by Pieter van Huystee Film. Mother Suriname – Mama Sranan is a compelling story about a Surinamese washerwoman who strives for a better life for her children.
And a Happy New Year by Sebastian Mulder received the IDFA Award for Best Youth Film in the category 9-12. This film shows how animals experience New Year's Eve fireworks. We follow their mounting stress, from the perspective of dogs wearing GoPros.
Selling a Colonial War by In-Soo Radstake (prod Holland Harbour) was awarded with the Beeld & Geluid IDFA ReFrame Award. 1945: Dutch government's secret, unlawful war against Indonesia's independence. A gripping documentary on crafty propaganda. Sales are handled by Rise and Shine.

Last but not least, three Dutch docs made it to the IDFA Audience Award top 10: Gerlach by Aliona van der Horst & Luuk Bouwman (prod. Docmakers), They and Them by Ingrid Kamerling (prod. Tangerine Tree) and Glass, My Unfulfilled Life by Rogier Kappers.
