Lin, a long-distance swimmer, is training for a gruelling cross-channel swim when she encounters Henri, a deep-sea welder, who, like her, thrives on danger. From their first encounter, Lin is irresistibly attracted to him and together they dive head first into an intense love affair. They challenge each other to dizzying heights, but also pull each other deeper into the darkness, where the two lovers fight until eventually one of them can no longer breathe.
