BAFTA nomination for Wander to Wonder

Today it was announced that short stop-motion animation Wander to Wonder by Nina Gantz has been nominated for a BAFTA in the Best Short Animation category. The BAFTAs are the most important film awards in the United Kingdom.

Gantz’s short film,
produced by Circe Films and Kaap Holland Filmrecounts about three tiny humans who star in a kids’  TV series called “Wander to Wonder”. After the creator dies, they are left alone in the studio. Struggling to find enough to eat, they continue to make increasingly strange episodes for their fans.

Wander to Wonder is currently on the shortlist for the Oscars and therefore also has a chance to win an Oscar in the Animated Short Film category. The film had its world premiere in Venice and recently won Best Short at the British Independent Awards and was nominated for the European Film Awards. The film has already won selections for more than 140 festivals and 43 awards at international festivals, including SXSW, Animation Is Film Festival, Tampere Film Festival and Anima Brussels. The film was also shown in Dutch cinemas and attracted more than 33,000 visitors.

Nina Gantz won a BAFTA for best animated short film ten years ago too. In 2016, she received the prestigious British film prize for Edmond, her graduation film for the National Film and Television School in London.

Dutch minority co-production All We Imagine as Light by director Payal Kapadia and co-produced by Amsterdam-based BALDR Film is nominated in the Film Not in the English Language category.

The 2025 BAFTAs will be presented on Sunday, February 16.
