EYES OF THE MACHINE explores China’s surveillance state and its repression of Uyghur Muslims in East Turkestan (Xinjiang). Centered on Kalbinur Sidik, a refugee forced to work in internment camps, now exiled in the Netherlands, the film contrasts her personal testimony with Chinese state propaganda, using personal photos, intercepted messages, open-source data, state media, and voices from the Uyghur diaspora.
