Dutch Film Week in Georgia

The Netherlands Embassy and FIPRESCI organise a joint cinema project in 'Cinema House' in Tblisi. From March 25 till 29, non-profit, independent cinematographic platform - CinExpress in Tblisi hosts the curated films by women filmmakers from The Netherlands.

The Dutch Film Week presents a diverse palette of contemporary cinema, from fiction and documentary forms to the discovery of lesser-known authors. The opening of the event on March 25 is dedicated to the work of Ineke Smits and Tato Kotetishvili.

Their works combine intercultural dialogue, memory brought to life on screen, and personal stories. This is a cinema where real people’s voices and personal dramas often become powerful tools of protest against unjust systems.

Ineke Smits, director

Smits is known for her distinct cinematic language that often blurs the lines between fiction and documentary. She has a long-standing professional relationship with Georgia, most notably directing the Dutch-Georgian co-production The Aviatrix of Kazbek (2010). Not shown in the program of short films curated for this event. The program consists of the follwing 4 films:
