Six filmmakers selected for Dutch Film Talents to Cannes 2026

Training and networking program at Festival de Cannes CineSud presents new generation of filmmakers at the Marché du Film Six short films included in the New Dutch Talent collection.

Six emerging filmmakers have been selected for the Dutch Film Talents to Cannes 2026 programme. This initiative by CineSud offers a unique training and networking trajectory during the Marché du Film at the Festival de Cannes (12–23 May 2026).

The selected filmmakers will present themselves and their work to the international film industry, expand their professional networks, and further develop their projects. In addition, six short films will be showcased as part of the New Dutch Talent collection.

Dutch Film Talents to Cannes 2026
Dutch Film Talents to Cannes is an intensive training and networking programme for filmmakers in the early stages of their careers. Through a combination of preparatory sessions, a tailored on-site programme in Cannes, participants strengthen their positioning within the international film industry.

The programme includes group meetings with industry professionals, networking events, talent drinks, and participation in key industry platforms such as the SFC | Rendez-vous Industry and the Marché du Film.

CineSud collaborates with a wide network of national and international partners to connect participants with producers, funds, distributors, festivals, and other key players in the field.

The selected filmmakers:

  • Yentl Vlachos
  • Lore Loyens
  • Brent Bosker
  • Sophie Olga de Jong

All selected filmmakers will be present at the Festival de Cannes.

New Dutch Talent Collection
In addition to the selected participants and their films, CineSud presents two additional short films within the New Dutch Talent collection, bringing the total to six films:

  • FANNY – The Milder Sisters
  • RIFFEL – Yentl Vlachos
  • A DOG’S LIFE / HONDENLEVEN – Sophie Olga de Jong
  • BETWEEN DAY AND DAWN / TUSSEN DAG EN DAUW – Lore Loyens
  • SQUEAK – Danae Grannetia
  • ROTTEN – Asli Bildirici

 The films will be featured in the catalogue and online, and actively promoted to festivals, distributors, broadcasters, and streamers.

Biographies of the participants
Karlijn & Lotte Milder (The Milder Sisters)

Lotte and Karlijn Milder are a directing duo and real-life sisters who focus on untold, female-driven stories. Combining backgrounds in acting and cinematography, they recently directed their first international period film Fanny, shot across multiple European countries. They are currently developing their feature debut Masquerade with support from the Netherlands Film Fund.

Yentl Vlachos
Yentl Vlachos is a film and theatre director who graduated cum laude from the Academy for Theatre in Tilburg. She has directed over 100 music videos for international artists. Her work explores themes of identity and emotional space, particularly within masculinity, aiming to engage younger audiences through authentic storytelling.

Sophie Olga de Jong
Sophie Olga de Jong is an animation director and artist whose work spans television, museums, and international feature films, including Where Is Anne Frank. Her films are known for their poetic and sensitive approach. She was nominated for the Victoriefonds Cultuurprijs and her work has been exhibited in Dutch museums.

Lore Loyens
Lore Loyens is a Belgian director based in Antwerp. A graduate of KASK School of Arts, her work has been recognised at major festivals, including Filmfestival Oostende and Film Fest Gent. Her films focus on atmosphere, tension, and psychological depth.

Brent Bosker
Brent Bosker is a director and screenwriter who graduated from HKU University of the Arts Utrecht. His work combines socially engaged storytelling with a poetic visual style. His graduation film Silent Waters won the NPO Fiction Talent Award at the Netherlands Film Festival.
